The Gila River Indian Community Utility Authority (GRICUA) was tasked with taking over the responsibility for the Community Utility GIS, which was previously developed and maintained by the San Carlos Irrigation Project (SCIP). The result from this change in utility mapping management required that two separate systems be merged into a GIS. Existing data needed to be reconciled from digital GIS and CAD files and new data was captured using GPS. The Gila River Indian Community covers 600 square miles just south of the Phoenix metro region.
