Requirements

2015 census data for this project was requested at the county level, which was gathered from the U.S. Census and the U.S. American Community Survey. Geospatial Research and Solutions needed to find the information, process it, and use it to create a map that showed the percent of the U.S. population participating in SNAP at the county level.

Our Solution

The Data was available in American FactFinder as well as TIGER, which are U.S. Census sponsored websites. The data was downloaded from American FactFinder as a .csv file and was processed to make it suitable for use with ArcMap and for joining with a county layer. The data from TIGER was downloaded as a shape file and was processed to make it possible to perform a tabular join. The data was joined and used to create a map for final delivery.
